Hhmmm, i found this thread Oil and your BMW – Which is the Best? BMW Service Blog from La Jolla Independent and they basically say all these approved specs for instance bmw ll-o1 and mb appr 229.5, well these oils here Halfords | Castrol Edge 0W30 Oil 4 Litre the castrol 0-30 and the castrol 0-40 are both of those but the 0-40 is bmw ll04 approved and what their all saying in the thread is about approved oils but i think i will go with castrol as the opening poster seems to rate it better than mobil but im still not to sure on the weight, do i go 0-30 or 0-40 ???
What does the 30 or 40 mean please, anyone know ?

0-40 Mobil 1 on my 2000 528i. It is BMW ll04 approved, I've ran it for over a decade in dozens of BMW's. I change it a bit more frequent then Brett does (no pun intended Brett) about every 7500 miles to be exact.
