Hi,

I need to do an interim oil change between services and wondered what oil i need to put into a year 2000 535 sport?

Does anyone know? on my last service invoice (BMW) it says softec oil but i have no idea what this is!

I am a bit of a mechanical numpty!!

I use BMW high performance synthetic oil 5-30 worth every penny of the 4 dollars at the dealer. No Mobile 1 synthetic oil please!! I used it once at Jeffy lubes gave me a lifter nock on cold start ups. stick with BMW

I'm pretty sure your good old owners manual should explain the exact blend you need. I'd go there first.. then secondly.. if you happen to be missing this such referance.. I'd call the dealership.. they should be able to pull it up rather quickly on their computers.

I use Mobile 1 synthetic and have had no problems at all.
Mobile 1 is also a recommended oil in your BMW manual.
Some independent BMW shops use Castrol synthetic.

Personally, I don't think any of the above will do your engine any harm or cause any knocking.

for your BMW I suggest using only BMW High Performance Synthetic Lube...it is honestly worth every cent.
