Quiets down after engine is hot. I've read a bunch of stuff (metal impeller recommended, left hand thread on fan etc...) and can fix just about anything. What are the finer points about changing a water pump. it's a 2003 525 i with 1118k. thanks
Changing the water pump is quite straight forward...which I would do pretty quick,if it goes you could have pieces of the fan shooting through the bonnet and Im not joking plus hoses,radiator and loads of damage.
You should be able to source a diy from the net.

Hey Marti5, someone on this forum once posted pictures of the possible damage you're talking about about. It was just amazing to see the damage caused by the fan on the hood (bonnet). I have never seen that before!
