On son's 525i there is a hose which comes off the back of the LHS headlight shroud (?) down to the alternator,as you say, for cooling.
If you loosen off the belt can you wobble the fan?
If radiator fan is attached to water pump (I haven't had a close look at this) it could signify that the water pump is on the way out. That would be bad!
Or there may be some loose bolts?

I will look into that. It's winter here in the northeast of US and an A, so I'm not too worried about alternators being hot, but it would be better if the part was cooler. I'm somewhat worried about the wobble of the pulley. I was mistaken it is not the water pump/fan shaft that wobbles. It is the pulley under the water pump/fan shaft in the first video. You can see how much it wobbles real well in the first video starting at around 23 seconds. In the second video you can get a better idea what the pulley looks like and you can also see it wobble, maybe even better than in the first video. Both videos are about 60 Mb.
I'm not going to be much help as our 525 doesn't have a serpentine belt.
Is that your air conditioner pulley? If it is turn on air con and see if anything changes when the clutch operates at higher revs . I can't really see much of a wobble in the video.
