Vanity Mirror Causing Radio Prob.

I have a 1998 528i. While the car was running, I put down visor and opened vanity mirror. Immediately all interior lights came on and my radio and instruments panel associated with it went out. The interior lights then faded. The inspect air bag light also came on. I continued to drive with no mechanical problems.

The radio came back on in 20 min or so. Next day when I turned car on radio was on. When I got to work, I turned off the car but left radio on. Pulled down visor and opened mirror, and again radio went out.

This has happened 3 times now. Sometimes the radio comes back on after a while, sometimes the instrument panel comes on and off. And the airbag light has gone out. And I do not think my steering wheel volume control is working (when the radio is on that is).

I have checked all fuses and they are fine.

Any ideas?

9 out of 10 times this is caused by the electrical portion of the ignition switch failing
I'd start there
