V8-V12 recall?

my new 545i was recalled after one week for a repair of a defective engine controll unit. Apparently it has effected about 2000 vehicles in the us. Does anyone out there have any information on the time line for repairs? My car has been at the dealer for a week now with no hope in sight for a quick repair.

I was wondering where your are located because i have a 545i and i am worried about the recall or what ever BMW wants to call it...i sure hope that i dont have any problems with my 2004 545i

I'm in maryland, apparently this recall effected all new vehicles with a v8 or a v12 manufactured between May and July.

yup i c the news say the V8 engine have some problem.

That is terrible! I sometimes wonder why some things like that arn't found in testing of the vehicle. But there are SOOOO many things that can go wrong on a car so I understand. 2000 is actually very few...
