My 1990 525I will can no longer be unlocked from the drivers side door. It can however still be locked from the drivers side door. In order to unlock the car I have to either unlock from the truch keyhole or the passenger side keyhole. The problem is not with any mechanism that moves the actuall locks because all the locks work fine. For some reason when I turn the key left on the drivers door keyhole it wont do anything at all. Any ideas? An easy fix? Because I dont want to pay a couple hundred dollars for a mechanic to take care of it.

I had this prob. on my 91 535i, i had to take it to the shop to fix it. I took the whole door apart but could not fix. =( sry no good news.
Does it CLICK CLICK? NO?
There is a C clip lock on the link which fall off over time. It connects the lock cylinder shaft to the actuator a black magnatic which sends signal to the brain of Central locking system to lock all the doors.
Sorry cannot elaborate any further since my experience with this area has been limited to fuses and what have you
on my 1990, similiar problem, i took the door panel off and the alluminum "leg" that mechanically operates that lock was cracked and would let the door unlock but allowed the others. either , if that is problem, rplace the "leg" our take to a weld shop.
