When I try to clear the transmitter it does not respond as stated in the owners manual. I move the ignition switch to position 2 and press both outside buttons (1&3) but the light does not flash. It stays lit solid.
Any help would e greatly appreciated.
Hey brettski! Thanks for the reply. And the pdf . It certainly makes it clear. But....I can't get past step 1. The light never flashes. I do have my Radio/MID out for repair. Think that might be causing a problem?.....naw!
brettski, I think so! I've got the garage door responding to the car. But...now it doesn't respond to the hand-held remote. I think it will just be a simple matter of re-programming the hand-held. I just hope it doesn't cancel out the car!!
walker13, I'd be glad to pass along any information I have. First thing is to determine weather your opener uses rolling codes...usually units manufactured after 1996. Mine does.
It also helps to have the owner/user manual for your model opener. (it may vary) For me, it was a matter of first moving the car out-side, clear of the door, and having my wife turn the ignition switch to the second position, (or just before start) then holding buttons 1, and 3 for at least 20 seconds. When the indicator light flashes (that's the one nearest the overhead buttons) then the previous (if any) programs are cleared.
OK, Then You're ready to program the car. While inside the garage I pushed the learn button on my opener and signaled my wife ( who remember was still in the car, in the driveway) to press the number 1 button (my preference) could be 2 or 3...three times. But for my particular unit this all had to be completed in a 30 second time period from when I first pushed the learn button on the opener.
One important thing to note; It took us two tries as she didn't hold the button 1 down long enough the first time. I would suggest holding it down a good 2 seconds between the successive hold(s).
That was it! it then began to respond. I hope this helps.
