Trying to drain the radiator

I have a 2001 530i. I would like to drain the radiator. I know that I have found the drain plug but it seems to have some sort of locking mechanism. The plug is plastic so, I do not want to break the piece. Is there a way to free up the plug so that I can turn and remove it?
Thank you for your help.
