Trunk won't open

Hello,

I'm not able to open the trunk of my 520d 2001 with the remote control. Does somebody has a thought where i can find the problem

does the trunk release inside the car not work? the key remote not work? the trunk release between the license plate lights not work? the key only manually unlocks the trunk? when the trunk is open the lights dont come on? when setting the alarm it doesnt beep? only beeps when disarming the alrm? if these are your symptoms its most likely the trunk wiring harness located on the right back side of the trunk hinge, there are like 15 wires in that black rubber wire harness and they are either cracked or completely severed. pull the rubber boot out and down to expose the wires and they will be cracked somewhere in the middle! you can have the dealer replace the whole thing for around $500 but it will eventually do the same thing since they are replacing it with the oem part that is defective! your best bet is to have the wires spliced and welded together with an added 2-3 inches! i have the same issues that i am trying to resolve as well!! good luck! let us know what you find!
