My 98 528i trunk does not want to close. I opened it today and now does not want to close. Even if I lock and unlock the car using the remote and the key hole, still not closing.

Is there a switch or fuse somewhere that controls this. When I press the remote button for the trunk I can ear the click but nothing else.

Please help

Sounds to me like the linkage is disconnected from the latch.

The central looking motor is used to open the boot if the locking motor is sticking this will stop it closing. Just remove the plastic cover (don't miss the screw under the cover in the grab hole) and make that it all moves OK

It was the locking motor as you suggested (trunk lock actuator). It was stuck open. Removed it and ordered a new one.

Thanks for your replies.
