When trans in my 95 540I is in manual mode is shifts perfectly responding crisply and shifting perfectly .when in auto it seems to get stuck in gear not shifting out of any gear until around 6000 rpms/ when i let off the gas car will still stay in gear, I have tried slow accelerations it still happened is some thing out of adjustment is this a serious problem ???????PLEASE HELP... I only drive the car in manual mode now.
go do a diagnostic. if u have either put the car on a jack and spun one wheel, that will happen. car speed sensor says car is stationary and wheel sesnsor says car is moving. u ned to clear fault codes. try disconnectint the battery overnight. if that does not fix it, at least it will clear all fault codes. if symtpms persist, see a doctor (Authorized Garage or at least someone with a diag kit)
Did you try changing the fluid and filter??On high mileage trans I drain the old fluid out then, get cheap trans fluid and refill.Drive it for about 200 miels. Then drain and replace filter and fluid.Make sure you get high quality fluid.Seems to work good.I think trans flushing can damage a high mileage trans. Please correct me if im wrong???
