hey all im new to the forum mostly because of this problem. i have a 1992 525i . problem is when im driving and i accelerate the gears shift too late and it jolts (mostly between 3000 and 4000 rpm) doesnt do it all the time just once and a while (every time i drive through) im thinking its a software problem. not sure. if it is how would i go about fixing this. and if you could be specific because im not the most mechanical guy there is. thanks

Either fluid or electronic problem. On ATF: when did you change it last? then have it diagnosed/checked by a pro. for possible electronic pproblems.

if your automatic transmission fluid (ATF) is black, then youll have some SERIOUS problems, i test drove a car with black ATF because it was never changed and it took its toll on the tranny, luckily my mechanic inspected the car before i bought it. i think atf is usually red or purple and pretty clear... someone correct me if im wrong

does it hesitate between when u shift to reverse and when the gear engages?

well its when i accelerate and going up in gears (mostly between 1st and 2nd) so i go and its getting close to 3000rpm and it passes the point where its suppost to shift then it like goes into neutral for a second rpms fly then engages into 2nd gear with a big tug
