well thought i had it all fixed, then wham my tranny just totally dies on me; alrite i don't know ANYTHING about trannys, ima try to explain what is goin on though: well my shifter feels like there is a metal block on the bottom of it and its moving about freely, not going into any gears at all, just moving around in a circle and seems like it can't find where the gears are. is this the clutch by any chance? i dont think so cuse i could hold it in and wouldn't stall. just lemme know what u think it mite be? i know this is gonna be expensive as well thanks for any inquiries
M5,
It's not your clutch. It's the shifter linkage, or shifter. Lift the car and check the shift rod, it's located on top of the flex disc directly behind the trans. You will probably find it broken or the bolt has come out of the bracket that holds it to the body. Pretty easy fix for the diy'er. HTH
