Tire Size

Sorry if I'm asking a question that might have already been asked but does anyone know whats the widest tire you can put on a 98 540i and could you recommend a good tire to put on a 540i, thanks for any input

This is twice tonight - is fitting a fuckin radar detector worth pinning more than my answer to ALL e39 tyre/rim questions?????????????? Jesus, I've never seen a post asking reference on radar equipment, yet it's pinned at the top why isn't my FACTUAL post concerning e39 tyres and rims pinned - these type of questions come up EVERY week without fail -or is it just cos the answer comes from the beelzibub????????

i saw a previous quote on tire size but it was not for a 99 540, i was not sure if the same tire could be put on most of the newer 5 series

if not - e39 is e39 - that's that (as far as tyres/rims are concerned).
