I have a problem with my 525iT it is making like a ticking noise when it is under load, but it will not do it if the engine is cold or if you put the brake on and press the gas. I went up on the octane rating and there is no change. I know the timing is all computerized and this car should not do this sort of thing but it is. I am not getting any codes so I don't have any faulty equipment on my car. I can drive up a steep hill and it will make this noise all the way up the hill. I had a mechanic look at it and he has know idea. If any of you guys don't have any idea I will just have to take it to BMW. If anyone has any questions let me know.
Thanks, This sound is coming from the front of the car. ghead
thats a heck of a problem.. are you 100% positive its an engine tick?
maybe a foreighn object got sucked up into the intake somehow..
investigate other possibilities aswell put the car on a hoist and then load it up and have a tech walk around it with a stephescope.. hope this has been anyhelp to you..

like i said have a tech put it up on a hoist and load it up by that i mean throw it in gear and accelerate. then with the stephescope he can determine where the noise is coming from if it is not to obvious..

your throwing a needless guess out dude.. why throw away the money on the gaskets when he can just have it inspected first.
