So I went to install my brandy new maf today in an attempt to solve my cold start issues and as soon as I removed the bellows etc. i see the throttle plate/butterfly valve is wide open! WTF! I checked the little thingy connected to the throttle rod and moving it and reinstalling does nothing!Am I looking at a specific throttle control something ,mechanical/spring something or what?Once the car warms up she runs fine. There is spring tension on the valve holding it in the open position???
Okay so i.ve figured out the traction control {95 540i btw} controls a "secondary??" throttle but should it still be open at cold start?I have the asc turned off unril my new speed sensors arrive and i still have horrible cold start issues Ie: starts and stops immediately first try, starts and stops almost immediately second try 'til 3rd or 4th attempt she will start and idles VERY rough for two or three minutes then smooths out and idle fine, hesitation for about 5 mins of driving and then is fine the rest of the day! She'll be going into winter storage Nov.1st and i plan on buying parts all winter.Outside of the obvious tune-up items what is most likely the culprit?P.S. It has gotten worse as the temperature here in NF. Canada has dropped and there isn't a single dealer or garage here that can read the codes/stomp test not working!@#$%^&!
