Dear listers:
My friends' 1997 5-series outside temp sensor is disconnected. Do you know where it is and how I can reconnect? thanks

The outside temperature sensor looks like a small black pin lives under your front passenger bumper to the right of your front tire. I was able to gain access to it by taking out my right fog light. Note once I relaced it; it took a long time a day or two to reinitialize or calibrate after replacement.
good luck

to quickly re-calibrate it just disconnect the battery negative cable and then reconnect it after about 5 minutes. You don't have to remove the fog light unless the wiring is torn out but if the plug is still there you can just connect the new sensor without taking any parts apart.
