This is your OBC correct??... on mine there is a conversion button... has MPH/KM or something like that.. if you hit it .. it changes everything to euro standards..
its in your manual, but you dont say what year you have. i have 2001 and you have to press the trip reset button and turn off the car. That should switch it

It's 1997 and yes, it's in the manual, but it doesnt seem to work
Hi new to the forum, but I believe I can help you with the mph to kph or the other way around, I had the same problem on mine, and with my car being a German import only got it the other day, all the OBC and manuals are in German. So whilst playing arround with the OBC I messed up my display.
Anyway I don't take credit for this info it was posted in another forum by a member who gave me the exact steps to change it back:
Quote:
Otherwise, the instructions are on page 33 under "Onboard computer", "To activate onboard computer controls".
Anyway, here's what you do:
1) make sure your car is started and underway (doesn't work otherwise)
2) press the "BC" function on the indicated button
3) on the extreme right, the last button label display will show "MLS SET". Press the "MLS" function and the scale will toggle between metric and imperial units (you'll notice the "MLS" will switch between metric and imperial units.
This happened to me once when the mechanic had to reset something in the car and forgot to set the car back to metric (Canada). The car must be in motion before you can make these changes.
As for the language of display, there is a parameter value in the E39 OBC under the German label of "Land". It has an associated value. It may be this value that the dealer has to change - probably a very easy thing to do with the proper interface control; just flip a few bits. The value I have seen from someone's treatise on the subject was "02" for the US. He thought it stood for country of sale but I think it may instead relate to language selection. I will post that person's webpage on the topic below. It's quite well explored but you should be very careful if you want to fiddle with the OBC. I know of no other source of information so if you muck something up
It worked like a treat for me.
