(1998 528i) i have a problem with my sunroof to close. when i push the button foward it is suppose to shut...it doesn't, the sunroof thinks i'm pushing the button up so it opens the sunroof in the up position. i've switched the switch with my dad's 740il (1995) and it still has the same problem. do i need a new motor for the sunroof? cause it's working fine. is there a computer for the sunroof that i could reset or something?
You can try pushing and holding the button up for about 10 seconds. I believe that will initialize it-it should move up slightly after about 10 seconds.
All you need to do is initializing the sunroof module which is built in the motor. This is done by closing the sunroof completely then press the button up and keep it pressed. the roof will move to the top then goes down open all the way back and closes itself. by this the roof is initialised and should work normally.
I tried pushing the button up for 10 sec. It went up but didn't come down as was expected. I have a feeling it was faulty wiring connections by the sparky.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the switch/motor so I can rule out shoddy connections?
