Hello!
I've just bought my first BMW and it's a 523i E39 96'. And I found out that when I turn the car off and take the key out of the egnition something is still buzzing behind the automatic air conditioning panel and it never stops! So if anyone has an idea what could be wrong please let me know.

Thanks.

never stops? like never ever?
what you're likely hearing are the stepper motors for the a/c controls

if what you are hearing is what I think you are hearing then yes. But, it should stop relatively soon after removing the key. Then again, we could be talking about something completely different

I found out what is the thing that 'never' stops working.
It's a small ventilator that mixes air for cabin temperature sensor!
So...is this normal?

There's a little sensor in the control panel, with a fan behind it. I'm not sure how long it runs, but I wouldn't worry about it unless it runs your battery down.

It should turn off when the car goes to sleep...about 16 minutes.
