Hi all,
After having my 99 540i for about a month now, i was wondering if there is a way to stop the steering wheel from automatically moving up when the key is turned off, then returning to the set position when started again.........seems like it's going to wear itself out, and i have no problem getting in and out with the wheel down. Thanx, Nick
Not bad news at all, I would leave it alone. This is an extra feature/option in your car simply doing its job. Memory module controls it along with other components. If you insist a fuse will do the trick (#13 on some cars) but you'll hear the bad news from other components such as seats and mirrors. Don't mess with it even when it sounds like a grinder to you......the sound is normal I think!
the movement is normal for ease of entery and exit modes....the noise (if found to be in access) may be caused if you have been using the steering wheel as a "lift" point to push off of as you get in and out of the vehicle as it is still trying to move into it's full up/down positions.
