(Thread Starter)
Hey guys i am new here i have owned a Bmw for almost 3 months now it is a 1990 525i and i love this car, just recently (past 2 days) a noise started come from the front whenever i would just rock the wheel back and forth while not moving or when ever i was going about 5 mph and i turned. so i assumed i was out of steering fluid. but when i looked there was still fluid in it so i put a little more in and then just tried to find where this noise was coming from. and when i rocked the wheel back and forth the sterring fluid started foming/ coming out of the fluid intake.
the noise is very loud and does not sound good at all.

Thanks, Jason

With E34 it depends on the heater system if it has a micro-filter there should be a sticker in the glove box or one of the front door shuts. Youll know if it has one because after a wail you wont get any air out of the air vents if it has got one its mounted to the right hand side of the heater box under the dash

The fluid always froths when the steering is working first thing to check is the drive belt

usually if the pump is low on fluid it will make a growling grinding type noise all the time. it could be and idler arm, center link, or a pitman arm. the most common part to fail of those is the idler arm. is it like a popping noise?
