Does it have an EGR? If it does then either remove it and thoroughly clean it with petrol (or Thinner) with a small brush then refit it, or, totally remove it and replace with blanking plates and then maybe get a re-map to cancel any future fault code !!

Welcome to the Werkz.

Also look at the intake manifold and associated intake ducting to see if there are any leaks/cracks.
Will the engine rev up freely without being in gear?
Is the idle smooth after startup or does it take a while to settle?
Is there any performance variation between when the engine is hot or cold?
Can you smell any unburnt fuel in the exhaust gases?

Sounds like air/fuel issues to me... Try running without the air filter and notice any differences !

If you disconnect the AMS does it make any difference to the symptoms?
Check the Crank Position Sensors and do a thorough scan for vacuum leaks.

Take it off and give it a thorough clean, and maybe replace the small gaskets !
