I'm looking for some help in regards to upgrading my sound system. So far I have added a great deck that looks as if BMW put it in themselves, it is basically black anodized aluminum and has an orange display...very nice. Now the next step is obviously upgrading the speakers. Now they currently sound fantastic but the system does not have the lower punch I would like it to have.
1) Does anyone first of all know if my 94 530i came with a sub built-in? I know there are ten speakers in it, 6 in front and I can only find two in the back, where are they other two??
2) I brought the car in to an installer and he said its really hard to upgrade a BMW sound system due to the fact there isn't much room to work with where the speakers are....anyone have any speakers they know of that fit in these cars that have good low response? I would be mainly interested in upgrading the speakers near your feet in the front...I believe them to be 6-1/2 inchers..??
3) I really don't want to add a subwoofer...and if I did I would like to be as hidden as possible.....

Haha, ya hard to believe, I couldn't believe it myself! The car came with a lot of extra goodies I did not know cars had in 1994?? Its absolutely loaded, it has the //M5 bucket seats in it!! Its nuts!

Two on the door, two on the dash, two on the front doors, and two in the back.
That's eight.
Huh.

If one of those pairs of speakers is coaxial, the 9th and 10th "speakers" may be the tweeter units to one of the sets of speakers you've already identified. Also, check in rear doors. I'm not as familiar w/ the E34, but my E39 has a pair of what looks like tweeters in the upper rear doors.
Please let us know how your speaker switch-out goes, as I am looking to upgrade the sound on my '99, and the way I want to do it is to just swap out the factory speakers w/some Boston Acoustics, Pioneers, or Polks.
