Hi every 1 i`m a total noobie,but been on other sites as a member

. I own a 2001 530 d and i`ve loved it since i bought it but the bitch as it the fan as i think the turbo has either gone or is going. I think this because i still have power and a whine coming from the engine,but a lot of white /blue smoke after 5 mins on start up and when the engine is revved in neutral it belches smoke. My oil service light has just illuminated (50 miles ago) and i had a inpection 2 at a reputable garage not bmw!(ooops)

@134,000. I was told they used castrol magnatec t/diesel it has now done 143+000 and until today ran mint i`m currently outta work so the thought of a new turbo gives me cold sweats so experience would b a great help.Thanks

!!!!!!!!!!hoorah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the problem on my t/diesel was an oil seperator(crank case breather) turnsout it is clogged it shudda been changed last oil service! 10,000 miles ago so blue/white smoke on turbo diesel probably = the above
