I've seen ads for smoked tail lights and head lights, but I don't think I've ever seen them on a vehicle. Does anyone have any pictures of these? I've got a dark Orient Blue 540i and I'm thinking they might look pretty good on it to keep the overall look dark!
I have been thinking about the same thing for the longest time. I have a 97 silver 540 with black trim and I think that the smoked tail lights would make it look awesome. I know of some spray that is inexpensive that is starting to be used and is a cheap alternative. I am going to buy some of this stuff that is like paint but allows the light to shine the same color. I have looked on ebay and at a time one guy was selling loads of it but it is no longer on there. It is called like VFT Spray or something along those lines, I will try and get back to you with some more. Peace.
I have in fact seen one just yesterday, it was a two-tone dark bronze/grey late model 540i 5-series (2001?) with all stock euipment but with smoked tail lights, side markers, and corner blinkers (with xenons and Angel Eyes)... we were stuck in traffic and even though I am not too crazy about aftermarket goodies (I have a full euro-spec E34 with xenons), that particular 5-series with these smoked lights looked plain awesome and exceptionally handsome! Go for it!
I have never bought anything from PROCARPARTS before but I have heard bad things about them in other discussions. The quality of the parts is not that great... Their prices are really low though.... Sometimes cheaper is not better.

Man, I hate that black strip, I am getting it painted when I save the money in a few weeks. It is going to be sweet!

There`s plenty of them on eBay I think, procarparts
Haven't heard good things about PCP (procarparts) because they leak, especially tail lights, if you get tail lights do it the right way... they are going to be expensive, just save, I have the celis tail lights on my car and they are awsome, if those blacked out ones are what you get, make sure they come with ballasts because those can be $100-200. If you ask me, I would go for OEM/Hella. I bought mine off ebay also but from Pavrac, and he ensured me that they were OEM and they were. I have washed my car maybe 20 times since I have had them on and been through storms and has spent weeks outside (no garage) and they dont show a sign of leaking (even tho I look every once in a while)
i have smoke tail lights on my 325is e36 that i bought from e bay. Only thing that sucks about them is the quality does really suck. The damn bulb holders are really f-ed up so you basically have to file them to make the bulb fit right. I suggest you just spray the tail lights. You should try getting the paint at performance shops. Most ricer shops sell them.
