Sirus and E39 w\ Factory Tape Deck

Hello,

I have been searching around in the forums to see if I can find an answer, now I will Post it...

I have a E39 ('98 528i) with a Factory Tape Deck. I am thinking of putting in the CD Changer (6 disk) and I am also thinking I might like to install Sirus.

What is required to install Sirus and can this be done so I can still use the steering wheel to change Radio channels?

Any Brand of Sirus I should be looking at?

You will not be able to find a Sirius receiver that works with the steering wheel buttons. Outside of a direct connection from the SIrius receiver to an auxiliary audio input on the car's stereo, the best sound quality is achieved using the tape deck (better than the hardwired FM or using an FM modulator). I bought the Sirius Starmate mainly because the display matches the interior lighting of the BMW. It is a little bit more red, but it was the closest thing out there. I use the remote all the time.

Sirius is great. I hope you find a setup that works well for you.

I know that for cars with a nav system, you can upgrade the nav compter to Mark IV, upgrade the radio in the trunk, and add a BMW factory Siruis system. DOn't know if that's possible for cars that only have a tape deck.
