I was thinking about getting SilverStars in my Fog lights, does anyone know what type of bulb goes in the 98' E39 528i?
Are there any other alternatives for a more HID look in my Fog Lights? Or for that matter, my headlights? I currently have the silverstars in my Low beams and I don't know what in my fog lights or high beams. I am very satisfied with the Silverstars but would like something a little bit more Xenon looking. Do I have to pay that grand to get the real xenons?
powerm, my previous ride is a '97 e39 and i used h7 for both low beams and foglights. it should state in the manual. not sure about high beams cuz i rarely used them anyway.
as far as xenon look, you can get a complete hid kit including bulbs for under $400 including shipping. then you are not having the look, you have the real thing! my friend bought them for both his bike & car, man, it's unbelievably bright and white (you have diff color options) B)! very easy to install, too.
Ha... well beautyland, I got an E34 535i with BMW OEM 5-series Xenons, projectors, 130w H1 highs, euro fogs with 110w H1 Hellas 'Yellows'. Kick butt in the lighting dept, IMHO. But if you want to do it a bit more cheaper, here's a great link for a totally revolutionary E34 lighting set-up...
I like silverstars..they look pretty cool. You have a sweet ride btw*
I have xenons in the M3
..I wish I could say that
Trutfully, silverstars are you best way to go. I have cool blues and coudn't find silvers on the day that my bulbs blew. So i settled. I also used to use some random ebay brand blue ones that gave a nice blusih glow. I loved them xcept they are horrible for rainy/foggy drivin and sicne its always foggy on the coast here...

Powerm, to answer your question:
For low beams and fog lights H7
For high beams 9005
I have a 97 540i and just ordered some PIAA Extreme White bulbs. I'll let you know the results once I get them, maybe in a week or two. They cost around $60 per pair....
Sweet looking. I thought it will cost around $400 for high and low beams togather with bulbs. I guess I am wrong. I will wait for the prices to come down. Thanks for the info.
I received my PIAA extreme cool blue bulbs today and.... they suck!!! There is nothing blue about these fricken light bulbs... If you're looking for the xenon look like I was, do NOT get these! I don't blame the place where I bought them from but the manufacturer for false advertising... This crap is not xenon HID look alike... motherf****s....
XTREME WHITE PLUS (XTREME COOL BLUE WHITE LIGHT 4000K)
H7, low beams and fog lights
9005, high beams
LOS, that sucks man! Sorry about those bad buy, but everyone has their share from internet sales. I'm going to start more seriously looking into some HID alternatives. I'll post what I find...
