Shark Injector - BMW Forum

I'm thinking about purchasing a shark injector for my 1998 540I. Does this software actually give you good gains? Is it worth the money? My car has lots of powere but you know we are never happy.....anyone have any comments on this?

i didnt know they made a shark injector for 540's, but i'm sure theres some kind of software upgrade available

It made a small but noticeable difference in my 528i, but that says nothing for how it might affect a 540i. Jim Conforti (software for the Shark) tends to not make specific horsepower claims but instead provides the data graphs for your specific vehicle as their testing results. I have read articles he has written before and I think he puts out a quality product.

i just looked at tms' conforti chips and they showed gains of 19hp and 33lb-ft of tq for the 4L 540

although there was nothing for the e39s

used

I just had the OBD-II reprogragramed on my 528i which is all the Shark does BTW, I have not driven a car that has used the shark but if you just get "a small but noticable" change like Sonner says I suggest you seek out a different option, like Dinan, ACS, Wenning Motorsport, Hamann etc. While it will cost you more you will be much happier with the results, I was anyway. SOONER, I installed the pulley's today. Other than being a real pain in the A$$ to install I don't know if I have gained anything but less money in the bank however in the next 2 weeks I will get the Dyno done and find out what the whole thing has given me in real gains!

Here is the cliams for the 2.8L engines (different part numbers for 328 vs 528 and between auto and manual and different years but you get the idea)
