Severe miss then all better

Started the 2002 525 this morning to do black Friday and had a severe missfire. Set the CEL in about a minute and was really missing hard. Just took a look at it, pulled the engine cover, checked connections at the coils and fired it up to eliminate cylinders untill I found the dead one and guess what? No more miss, smooth as silk. Took her out and drover her hard and nothing. Hmmmmm.......
