Screeching Noise Under Hood

I have just started to hear a screeching noise under my hood kinda like when a fan belt is loose. I opened up the hood and could here that the sound was coming from the area near the power steering resevoir. Can anyone tell me what is near there that would cause that? The noise goes away after the car warms up but comes back intermittently. Thanks in advance. This is a great board for info and discussion.

Sounds like the power steering pump is going back. Unless the belt is slipping on the pulley.

try removing the belt, cleaning the pulley, change the fluid... etc.

see if that helps. (if it is in-fact coming from the power steering)

if nothing fixes it, you may need a new pump.

Follow the hose coming from the bottom of the reservoir. It's the accessory that the hose will lead you to.
