I want new rims on my E39. I have heard that it is unwise to go with anything aftermarket that is not made by a BMW tuning company, Because BMW specially designs their wheels for superb comfort. I saw an E39 540 with what I believe was the stock wheels and they looked perfect. Does anyone know where I can get factory wheels without going to the dealer? Also is this rumor true about BMW and their wheels.
Any help is good help.
Thanx.

Here is my 97 528i on 745il chrome wheels. BMW obviously doesnt make these in a 19" so they are made by some no name company. they are 19x8" NO RUBBING at all, w/stock suspension they sit in the wheel well nice, and ride great!

The nicest stock rims on a 540 I have ever seen are the ones that come on the M package 540's. They also were on the e38 7er's. http://www.kleinert-web.de/bmw/BMW1.jpg
I love those, they are called M parallell, if you want me to find out the wheel number I can too. I love those wheels. And they are strait from BMW if you want them too be.
