Hi i have just joined this forum looking for some much needed help.
I have a 2000 528i msport i just changed the instrument cluster as the previous one the pixels had died. The second hand one i brought has the same VDO/BMW number but the rev counter is not working as well as the engine light and traction control light does not come on, this was all working on the previous one, and ive been told all this is working from the dealer i brought it from.
Also the onboard computer and radio is not working i changed the fuse it came on for a few minutes and stopped again the fuses seem fine ,dont know what to do now.
You need to get the new cluster coded to the car, either at the main dealer or somebody who has GT1 diagnostic set up. It would have been easier to just change the cluster ribbon which cures the pixel problem, although you do have to take the cluster apart, but its not to bad a job.
