Replace Spark Plugs at 40K?

Just had my car in for an oil change, and they also changed the spark plugs. Seemed kind of early, my car only has 41,000 miles on it. Why such an early change, both of my other cars have 100K life plugs (both Nissans).

By the way, great service again from Center BMW in Sherman Oaks, California. If you're in the SF Valley and looking for a good place to have your BMW serviced, I highly recommend them.

It does seem a little premature, especially if they weren't giving any issues with performance.
