Removing stock springs on E34 535i & Replacing with Vogtland
Hi Guys , I have searched the Forum and also had a look at the Bentley Manual & I cannot find how you remove and replace the front and rear springs.
I am aware that you need a car Jack , some blocks to rest the car on and a spring compressor ( do I need anything else ? )
I am not aware of how you actually get the springs on and off the car. Is it just a matter of jacking it up , compressing the spring and presto ? Or is their more to it ?
What bolts need loosening ?
do you need to muck around with the Brakes ?
Do you need to muck around with the shocks ?
Etc.........
The rear springs are the easiest... Disconnect one end of each damper and jack the body away from the rear axle, they should drop out if I remember ! If not, sue me !!
You have to completely removed the front struts, top bolts under bonnet and bolts to hub carrier (jacked up of course), then use the spring compressors to swap to the new ones...
Also, replace any faulty rubber spring pads.
