Being new to the board I just have a simple question. IS there an armrest piece that I can buy that will fit into the slot where the cell phone is on the center armrest? I have a '98 528i.
I hate the look of this outdated cell phone and want to replace with a color matched piece that just clicks into place where the phone is. I would even consider a matching wood trim piece.
Any suggestions of where to get this if it exist? I checked on Bavarian Auto and saw the cupholder that sits on top of the center armrest. Cupholders aren't my thing and I don't think these look particularly good.
Thanks for any info!

Go to www.BMWtips.com and in the interiors section there's a write-up on replacing the armrest with part numbers, etc. I did mine and it turned out great. The cost of the parts (depending on vinyl versus leather, etc.) is about $140 to $350. The installation is actually pretty simple and requires a run to Home Depot for a couple of screws and washers.
I went to joAnns fabrics, bought a half a yard of black leather, and a small section of foam, $7.00 can of aerosol glue $ 5.00 Nice center console...priceless
If you unscrew the cell phone, snip the cable, you can pry up the black cup that is in the center by squeezing the sides. I then packed it with squishy foam, and sprayed glue all over it, gave it a minute to set, then stretched the leather over it. Trim the excess and snap it back into place. Not only does it look great its much more comfortable on your elbow.
Total Project cost = $12.00
good luck
:P
