Rear Bumper skin 540i - BMW Forum

Hi
Had a tow bar fitted to my 540i and they cut a hole through the rear bumper skin. Ugly as hell. Can any one tell me where I can get a rear skin and if when you have a genuine bar fitted if they cut a hole through the skin to fit it.

Why would you put a tow bar on a bmw, let alone a 540? An x5 maybe. You are just asking for trouble. The car is going to reject it as a matter of principle.

Usually you put a tow bar on to toa a trailer, horse float, maybe a jetski.

There are factory kits for some models. You'd have to check your specific vehicle to see if the factory kit went through or below the rear bumper. Maybe you can get a bumper skin that is designed for a tow hitch?

I do have a good reason for the tow bar but unfortunately the mistake I made was to take it to a fitter who fitted a non genuine bar. My fault! I should have taken it back to the dealer.
The car belongs to me and I paid for it so I guess what I do with the car is my business.
