| I've had my 1983 BMW e28 for two and a half years and have replaced many of the typical twenty-plus year old parts and components. However, within the last year I began experiencing trouble trouble starting the vehicle after prolonged thunderstorms: The vehicle is rough starting and the idle is erratic, especially in REVERSE or DRIVE. After starting I leave it in PARK for 10-15 min. until the idle eventually smoothes out. Once smoothed out, I have no problems in REVERSE or DRIVE. Furthermore I have no problems starting it until the next spot of bad weather. Last week after one such episode I went to the gas station, shut off the car, filled up, and to my dismay had to start the whole rough start process over again. However, this time the idle smoothed out in about 5 mins. and I was good to go. Other than getting a giant umbrella for my bimmer, any suggestions on where to begin to track down the problem(s)? Also, I'm new here and wanted to thank everyone for such a wonderful site. It's comforting to know that there are others out there just as obsessed about their BMWs as I am. Thanks again. |
