98/540i : My Battery Was Dead On My Car(left Lights On). The Keys Were In The Ignition I Put The Battery On The Battery Charger And Later When I Went To Start The Car The Radio Will Not Work At All....nothing ... Please Help?

You have to reset the radio. There should be a five digit code the radio asks for that will re-enable it.

Disconnecting the battery reboots the radio and makes it think it has been stolen or something. It won't work until you type in the code.

If the person you bought it from didn't give you the code, you can try to get it from a BMW shop or (shudder) a dealership...

Good luck! I hope maybe you have the code with your owners manual or something.

Hi, I Disconnected The Battery And Waited About 15min. I Put The Battery Back On And There Is No Power To The Radio At All. Everything Else Works Fine. But, The Radio Has No Power At All. Thank You For Your Help. If Anyone Else Has Any Suggestions Please Reply.

Hello newbie here had same problem but was told that the code is noted in the car manual if not u have to pull the radio out and the code should be on it. Luckily my brother kept the charger on and installed the new battery without resetting radio.

so let me get this right. Even though the radio has no power at all, it will not turn on until i put in the radio code? Because the radio has no power and is not asking for a code. Sorry if I sound like I am repeating myself , but my other car radio will still turn on and this one does nothing.

On another post I read that there is a fuse behind the radio, and another by the CD multichanger. both have to be good before you see any life.
