I've recently bought a 1990 E34 and every now and then the coolant fluid starts to spill out through the cap...the first time this happened I though it was just that I left the cap lossened, but it keeps happening over and over again. Why does this happen? can somebody help me out?
maybe you have too much coolant in there.... when the coolants/hoses are cold to touch your coolant level (in the expansion tank under cap) is suposed to be up to KALT (cold)...

when coolant heats up it expands and the cap is made so it opens up a bit to release excess amounts (if you have too much in there to begin with)
what kind of e-34 (m20.m30-m50 w/o vanos). is the car overheating, coolant look brown, like stop leak?? start the car cold w/ the cap off, & rev it up, does the coolant circulate in the tank, got heat..come on man give me some help.
