bmwlotattendant:
for stealth one, do you also need valentine one radar?
because in the description it said you plug one end to valentine one, other to the port in the 5-er

The StealthOne connects to a V1 Direct Wire Power Adapter and then connects to the Valentine One radar detector. From the StealthOne....it connects to the vehicle's Aux Port.
Once you install it....
1. Turn the ignition key until power is applied to the Valentine One® and
StealthOne. You will notice that the Valentine One® display is now dark,
indicating that it is in stealth mode.
The display is on your dash or on your radio dash....instead of your Valentine One radar detector.
I like it, but it is expensive. Just ask Slvr e39...he checked into it.
so what's the point of buying stealth one? valentine is a good radar and it does have arrows to pinpoint the location of the cop. Why would you spend an extra $200? does it do anything else other than arrows in the dash? maybe amplifies the signal so that valentine one works better???

For what it is worth, I went out to Wal-Mart and bought a cheapo Cobra XR9300 for about $93 before Memorial Day weekend for a long trip. For the money, I can't complain because it picks Ka and K band at a range of almost 1/4 of a mile depending on your speed and the hills. It also pick sup X band and Laser. If you live in Virginia or D.C. it has Spectre radar detector detector. I am happy with it for now but will probably get a Valentine 1 for Christmas.

escort passport is pretty good too.
few firends of mine have it and it works like 10-15 seconds before there's cop. Pretty impressive. The valentine one is good because of the arrows, but i'd rather slow down nevertheless if the radar goes off just to be safe.

Yea, I am really torn between the new Passport X50 and the V1. I like the price of the Passport better.

I have the Escort Passport X50 Blue....and I love it!
V1 barely scored higher in tests ive seen. it barely lead against the passport 8500 i believe. They were both a good 20 points ahead of everyone else (on a 100 point scale).
Not wanting to beat a dead horse here or put Cobra on a pedestal I have to let everyone know how impressed I am with my cheapo XR9300. This detector has saved me three times in the last week and performs very well for the money.
Just yesterday it picked up a Ka radar on an oncoming HP that was at least 1/2 mile away.
BTW, thanks for all the input on the V1 vs. the Passport 8500.

I put a lot of miles on my car--35,000 in the last twelve months. Those are usually on road trips of 600 miles or so each leg. Often, I'm on the Ohio turnpike (I-80/90), which is well known for its vicious cops. I tend to drive between 15 and 30 mph over the limit when cruising, and significantly more than that in open stretches with no other traffic. Before the V-1, I had three speeding tickets in the course of 8 months. After the V-1, I have had zero, and know when a cop is ahead from between 2.5 and 1.5 miles in advance, depending on conditions. The arrows are absolutely invaluable to me, and the advanced logic computer in the V-1 isn't duplicated in any other detector. Go to Valentine1.com--I think you'll like what you read. Just the arrows alone are worth the extra money to me over the Passport.
