Rack and Pinion purchase - BMW Forum

I want to put new seals in my rack and pinion but think I will need to buy a new one. Any info on a good place to buy this thing. I have found 5 or 6 different places all with different prices. And I do not have the servotronic steering according to the bmw dealer that looked up my vin number.

Additional question, does the boots hold any fluid as a part of the system? Everything works on this thing except it leeks fluid out the end with a torn boot.

why you need new seals for rack and pinion?

because power steering fluid poured out of the left side of my rack. But when I disassembled the rack I found the internal shaft very pitted. Even new seals in this thing would not work. I ordered a new rack last night. will be here in a few days.

What would be the cost of new rack?

I ordered one for $348.00 no core charge on ebay. If it lasts a year I will be happy.
