Quick advice PLEASE :)

Hello all -

I am thinking about buying a 2000 528i with about 130,000 miles. Does anyone know how many miles these cars can expect to comfortably accumulate? I'm comparing it to Volvos that have similar mileage but those are widely documented to be able to go 200+ and I can't find similar info on the BMW.

Also, Consumer Reports says that in terms of reliability the 5-series is below average compared to other cars in its class. For current owners, are there any big mechanical problems you've encountered? I'm of course thinking of engine parts but also of the on-board computer. My mom's Mercedes gives her unending electrical problems and I can't afford those high-dollar fixes!!

Hi, Firstly if its been taken care of , serviced etc she should go to around 300,000 - 350,000 and more, depending how you look after it, as for problems BM's do have their probs, but not as often as other makes.
