I am looking to replace the front carpet in my 93 M5 with a used one due to a mess caused by a leaking clutch master cylinder. Pelican sells a new one (if available) in the $500+ price range which is a little more than I am interested in investing at the moment.
To determine which cars would make suitable donor vehicles, I used the ETK information. When I checked the ETK for the P/N for the 93 M5 Anthrazit carpet, it shows as 51-47-8-126-370. A "where-used" check shows the same P/N used in the 92-95 530i/M60, 09/90-1993 535i, and the 92-95 540i.
A more available E34 donor vehicle would seem to be the 525i/M50, where this same color carpet was used from 09/90 through 1995. The concern using the 525i/M50 as a donor vehicle is that the P/N for the front carpet is different -- 51-47-8-126-382.
Does anyone have any idea what the physical differences between the two carpets might be?? I would hate to locate and pay for a carpet from the E34 525i because they were the easiest to locate and not have it fit for some reason.
TIA for any assistance you can provide...
BTW, can anyone recommend any East Coast recyclers that might have a used carpet for something of this vintage..??
