Is the big key with the roundel in the middle to lock the car, one button toward the key shaft to unlock, and another on the far end for the trunk?
My 2001 530 uses a key like that. I got a new one two days ago. The guy put the key in the ignition, started the car, turned the car off, removed the key, held down the unlock button, then pushed the roundel 3 times. At that point the car responded by locking the doors. Works just like the other key now.
