Arrow

My husband has just purchased a 84 528e, and we are having a huge problem getting the thing started, the previous owener said he was driving down the highway and it just died.

He has checked the power from fuses box to fuel pump relay and the power is going in and out of the relay but is not going to the pumps.

Theres no reading from the gages on the trip panel, is this whats stopping the car from running?

He's started the car with gas filled rags in the multi-port and it fired up and ran.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be wrong with it, apart from this trouble the car is lovely.

Many thanks

ghead

Jumper the main relay from the red to the green wire and see if it starts.
The green wire is the signal from the alarm(trip computer). If it starts you will have to replace the trip computer bypass it.

Sorry that is for a 535i not 528e, but anyway if he can figure out which wire is for the 528e he can try it.
