Power steering leak in '93 BMW 525i station wagon

Can someone please help?? Advance Auto told me to put transmission fluid in my power steering reservoir. Is this right?? Also, I have a leak in the back passenger's side (next to tire) that is leaking. Is it power steering fluid? What does this mean and what do I need to do now?? I have been having a hard time turning left. Any idea??

Usually the power steering uses ATF. But the leak needs to be fixed, on my E30 the hoses had to be replaced.

ATF = Automatic Transmission Fluid. You can get it in any auto parts store. For your car you need Dexron III ATF (this is the type, not the brand).

That other leak can't possibly be related to power steering if it is that far in the back.
