The midrange powerband on my 525i isnt all that great to begin with, I've been waiting for some extra cash to get a chip to improve that, however when i select sport mode *I drive an automatic * It seems to fix the problem.

A chip slightly helps it. That is defintely a weird issue that it only works well when it is cold. I dont really know what to say. Maybe the fuel pump is the problem ro something? Good Luck and let us know what fixes it.

How many miles? could be emissions related, possibly even as simple as the o2 sensor. hard to diagnose without more symptoms, though.
