My dad said that my E30 wont be reliable during college we are constantly fixing little things, then other lil things pop up and need fixing, and in college, the price of most things to be fixed will be harsh and i wont really have the time. So he said that we would sell my car and lease another, and he said i could do about 300$ max a month on a lease, so i immediatly though "LEASE A USED 540i 6spd! YES".
So, now, im searching for what i could do to my 540i that i want.
so basically, im asking, what and where can i get the best stuff.
what sites should i look at, cuz most of the ones i have are all for 3er's. so any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

dont lease a car dude. bad idea. think about it after the term of the lease is up, you put all that $ into the car, and then you have to give it back and you will have nothing to show for it. Unless you decide to buy the car at the end of the term in which case you will most likely be charged an unrealistically high price for the car. Forget the lease dude and just finance. or even better buy cash! but seriously unless ur in business or u plan on getting a new car every 2-3 years, leasing ANY car is not financially smart especially a used car...
Im talkingsmall appearance things like Lights, Rims, and lil interior deals for a E39.
We are gonna lease because we dont have the money to just buy a car, even if it was like 10grand, my dad doesnt have the kind of funds to just throw down on a car, so we have to finance, or lease. Ill try and finance it, because id like to have that car in the end.
My car has LOTs of more issues then the 5er, constantly, when one thing is fixed, another goes out, and soon, i know im gonna need a new engine, because i can tell mine is slowly getting ready to go, especially the way that i run it, there isnt a day that goes by where i dont hit 6300RPM's atleast 3 times, lol, unless im out of town.
And the reason for the lease is, because i know you cant mod them that much, when i give it back or what not, it wont be a HUGE Huge loss, cuz i havent done much to it.
so thats kinda what im lookin for, thanks.

As for rims, on an e39, I'd go with 17 or 18 inch M Parallels ... the real ones cost like 500 bucks a rim, but replicas go for like 600 for the entire set with a cheap set of tires, too.
And as for what car you're buying, it'd be better to buy an e34 versus leasing an e39. Personally, I think the e34 looks tons better than the e39, but that's just me.
Before my dad sold his company he would lease cars all the time and its alot cheaper when you're in that position. After that he quit doing it. I think the best thing to do is bide your time and look around for a good condition used one. Leasing cars is like renting, at the time its cheaper but in the end you'll have spent alot and won't have much to show for it.
Good luck either way Spiff.
I liked your old car, too bad you have to let it go!

My sh*t is not disco. Thank You.
Leasing would be a waste of money if you want to mod it.
A 1997 BMW 540i with a six speed is like 14K.
A 1995 BMW 540i with a six speed is like 12K -- and they're fairly rare. And then there's the 540i ///M Sport which is even MORE rare, and those cost just as much as a 1997.
I dont want to knock the 5 series, but maybee a newer 3 series would be a better idea? Think about it. They are easier to find, cheaper to buy/run, sportier (although its hard to beat a V8), easier/cheaper to fix than a 5er, ect... Ask d3ity, he would take a 328 over his '95 525 any day :-) probably because of running costs alone!
I was going ove rthings witht he dad, and those have 'too much power', so thats lamo, and plus, it would kill the insurance cuz of the V8 and such, so i guess the 5er's out, also, cuz 528's are pretty much all auto, except for E28's and some E34's that are hard to find, and most likely, those have problems also. BUt mainly it sucks balls because its hard to find a good car to replace mine.
im gonna miss my car so fucking much, i feel like it was part of me, which it was. so many people would say "dan that car fits you so much".
FUCKING SUCKS, sorry, this is just turning into another Vent thread for me, it just fucking sucks, cuz i have like 4 forum names, all like "___325iS", my screen name is RedE30iS, SO I HAVE TO CHANGE THAT, SO OOOOOOOOO GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAxinfinite Y."
thanks for all the help though.
